...to have survived the Georgia floods relatively unscathed. Me and hubbie were out in the midst of it the worst night, digging a trench in shin-deep water all the way down the house in the backyard to let water flow into the driveway, instead of into house. Meanwhile, son enjoyed Phineas and Ferb cartoons...gotta love that show! Why yes, yes I do. ;) Our poor neighbors waited till the next day when the rain finally stopped to check out the damage, lot's of carpet and furniture dragged to the curb around here.
And compared to some folks not too far away, we're all lucky. Where I work our sister-company got completely flooded out - destroyed considering the 8" of poop sediment and dead fish that were left in their building. Lucky for them, they've now been housed in our building - in every cranny of available space we had. As uncomfortable as I find cubicle life - imagine suddenly sharing one with 2 other people, no desk space left thanks to all the computers.
Lord knows I'm not much of a journal poster (more of a reader than a writer, don't chu know), but just wanted to remind everyone to be grateful for the things we take for granted. A dry house, clean water to drink, a job, and space on your desk for your rubber-band-gargoyle amongst them!
Cheers!
